Tryon Presbyterian Women

The Presbyterian Women of the Tryon Presbyterian Church are an inclusive and caring community of women committed to working toward God’s promise of wholeness for all people.

Our Commission

Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit, the Presbyterian Women commit themselves to:

  • Nurture faith through prayer and Bible study,

  • Support the mission of the church, locally and worldwide,

  • Work for justice and peace, and

  • Build an inclusive and caring community of women that strengthens Tryon Presbyterian Church and the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A), and witnesses to the promise of God’s kingdom.

The Tryon Presbyterian Women are aligned under a shared purpose, but the gifts of the Spirit allow us to live the Purpose in our own unique ways.

At Tryon Presbyterian Church, the Presbyterian Women:

  • Elect their own leadership, known as the Coordinating or Co-Team;

  • Plan and implement a yearly program and determine a budget;

  • Meet in monthly Circles for Bible study, fellowship, and to further the PW mission;

  • Support special ministries of the congregation and the community;

  • Support the mission of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) worldwide;

  • Recognize and fulfill their accountability to the Session;

  • Preserve historical records of the PW in the Congregation; and

  • Maintain connections with the PW at other governing levels.

The Circles

About forty women participate in three circles that meet monthly at two locations:

  • The Naomi Circle meets at 10:30 a.m. on the first Monday of the month at the church;

  • The Lydia Circle meets at 10:30 a.m. on the second Monday of the month at Tryon Estates; and

  • The Glory Girls meet at 5 p.m. on the Second Sunday of the month at the church.
